Belmont Enterprises Adds Additional Glass Hauling Expertise to Smokey Point Distributing

ARLINGTON, Wash. – Jan. 2, 2017 – Smokey Point Distributing, a Daseke company, announces that Belmont Enterprises has joined its company. Belmont, with headquarters in Olympia, Wash., is a dedicated glass hauler that will complement the existing glass hauling customers of SPD.

“There is a lot of synergy between our two companies in philosophy, customer service and ethics,” said Dan Wirkkala, president and CEO, SPD. “Belmont Enterprises began operation in the 1970s by Jack and Mary Jo Belmont with just one truck. As CEO, Jack Belmont has since done a wonderful job developing a premier West Coast glass-‐hauling business. I’ve known Jack for 20-‐plus years, and have always been impressed with his business. We will add technological resources, such as our transportation management system and the consolidated purchasing power of Daseke to compliment his current operations. This will make us all even stronger and more efficient.”

Through the years, Belmont has refined the art of moving sheets of clear and coated glass, also known as STOCE, some measuring 102 inches tall by 144 inches long. The company’s patented swivel top tie-‐down system, which is used with its metal racks mounted on roll-‐top trailers, eliminates the need for ladders in loading.

"It’s safer, more secure and efficient,” said Jack Belmont. “We haul up to 53,000 pounds of glass in each load – this securement process has revolutionized our strap-‐down process, ensuring safe and breakage-‐free deliveries.”

Belmont continued, “I wouldn’t merge with just anyone – I knew SPD was the right choice. I trust Dan. I care very deeply about the future of our people. I know his team understands how to work in a niche market by providing outstanding customer service. Belmont Enterprises has the full backing of SPD and Daseke. The future is bright.”

The Belmont team compliments SPD’s current glass customer base and increases its overall glass-‐hauling capabilities within the Daseke organization.

“Moore Freight Service, one of the largest glass haulers in the country, recently joined the Daseke family of companies,” Wirkkala said. “There is great synergy between Belmont Enterprises and SPD, which will further assist Daseke’s focus on expanding its services to the glass industry.”
