Chris Easter , , , Chief Executive Officer

Chris Easter has been Daseke’s Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors since February of 2020. He began his career at Daseke as its Chief Operating Officer in January of 2019 and assumed the additional responsibility as its Interim Chief Executive Officer in August of 2019. His background includes more than 30 years of operational leadership serving in key transportation and logistics roles with the United States Army, Walmart and Schneider National. From 2012 to 2017, he served as CEO of Keen Transport, a specialized transportation, warehouse, and logistics company focused on serving the industrial equipment market. During more than a decade with Walmart, he was responsible for overseeing the transportation of goods from around the world. Easter graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point; he then served with distinction in the U.S. Army, where he was a leader in heavy machinery logistics. Easter was awarded the Bronze Star during Operation Desert Storm

Jason Bates , , , Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Jason Bates has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since April of 2020. Mr. Bates brings over 17 years of direct trucking industry experience, and 10 years of financial executive experience to Daseke’s leadership team. He joins Daseke from USA Truck, a North American truckload carrier and logistics brokerage provider, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 2017. Prior to joining USA Truck, Mr. Bates served as Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations Officer at Swift Transportation Company, holding a variety of finance, treasury and accounting roles with increasing scope and responsibility since joining the company in 2003. Mr. Bates began his career in corporate finance at Honeywell International, in the Aerospace Division. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Arizona State University.

Rick Williams , , , Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Rick Williams has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since May of 2020. He brings over 34 years of direct trucking industry experience, serving as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Central Oregon Truck Company, Inc., (“COTC”), a flatbed transportation company based in Redmond, Oregon. In September 2019, Mr. Williams was named Flatbed Segment Division Head, where he was primarily responsible for overseeing and implementing best practices across the Daseke Flatbed Segment. Williams began his 34 year career in the flatbed trucking industry as a driver at the age of 20. His management expertise and focus on operational process and efficiency propelled COTC from its inception as a small freight brokerage to its current fleet of over 300 power units. COTC is recognized as one of the Top 20 “Best Fleets to Drive For®” in the U.S. for seven straight years by the Truckload Carrier’s Association (TCA®) and winning the overall award of Best Fleet to Drive For in 2018.

John P. Michell , , , Vice President, Operations Strategy

John P. Michell has served as Daseke’s Vice President of Operations Strategy since April 2019. He previously served as Vice President of Finance since June 2017. Prior to this, beginning in July 2013, Mr. Michell served as Daseke’s Director of Finance. Before joining Daseke, he spent several years as an Assistant Vice President at Texas Capital Bank working in its Financial Sponsor Group conducting due diligence across a wide array of industries. Mr. Michell began his career as an Analyst at Frost National Bank in its Middle Market Commercial Banking Group. Mr. Michell graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

Soumit Roy , , , Chief Legal Officer

Mr. Roy has served as Chief Legal Officer since joining the company in September 2017. Mr. Roy brings over 17 years’ experience in private practice and in-house counsel positions at Fortune 500 publicly traded companies. Prior to joining Daseke, he was Global Transaction Counsel at Whole Foods Market, General Counsel at Hotels.com, an Expedia Company, and Counsel at Texas Instruments. His private practice experience includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate securities, employment law, and intellectual property law. A Texas native, Mr. Roy received a B.S. Molecular Biology, B.S Biochemistry and his Juris Doctorate all from The University of Texas at Austin.

Amanda Hemker , , , Vice President and Corporate Controller

Amanda Hemker has served as Daseke’s Vice President since 2017 and was promoted to Corporate Controller in January 2019. Ms. Hemker has been with Daseke since she joined as Assistant Corporate Controller in 2013. She provides controllership for all Daseke subsidiaries across the United States and Canada. Ms. Hemker has extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting and financial reporting as well as SEC accounting and reporting. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Ms. Hemker graduated with honors from Southwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Political Science. She also has an undergraduate degree from Fort Hays State University in Sociology and is certified in Grant Proposal Writing and Community Development.

Matt Cacace , , , Senior Vice President, Business Systems

Matt Cacace has been with Daseke since 2014 where he served as the Chief Operating Officer for Smokey Point Distributing, a Daseke operating company based in Seattle. In September 2018, he became Daseke’s Senior Vice President of Business Systems. He provides oversight of cyber security, information systems and infrastructure, business process management and IT SOX compliance. Mr. Cacace has been in the industry for almost 40 years and has extensive knowledge of domestic and international transportation operations as well as technology and logistics applications. He also held previous executive management and C-level positions with McLeod Software and U.S. Xpress Enterprises. Mr. Cacace earned a bachelor’s in Management Science from CW Post College in New York.
