Chris Easter , , , Interim Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer

Chris Easter was named Interim Chief Executive Officer in August 2019, and has served as Chief Operating Officer since joining Daseke in January 2019. Easter brings Daseke more than 30 years of operational leadership serving in key transportation and logistics roles with the United States Army, Walmart and Schneider National. For the past six years, he served as CEO of Keen Transport, a specialized transportation, warehouse, and logistics company focused on serving the industrial equipment market. During more than a decade with Walmart, he was responsible for overseeing the transportation of goods from around the world. Easter graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point; he then served with distinction in the U.S. Army, where he was a leader in heavy machinery logistics. Easter was awarded the Bronze Star during Operation Desert Storm. Believing in giving back to the industry, he serves the industry on the Board of Directors for the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA).

R. Scott Wheeler , , , Director and President

R. Scott Wheeler has served as Daseke’s President since January 2018 and as a director on Daseke’s board of directors since December 2016. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer from February 2015 to September 2018 and Executive Vice President of the company from February 2015 to January 2018. Mr. Wheeler was previously Daseke’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from August 2012 to February 2015. From 2008 to 2012, Mr. Wheeler served as Chief Financial Officer of OneSource Virtual, Inc., and from 2003 to 2008, Mr. Wheeler was the Managing Director of VCFO, a chief financial officer and controller focused consulting firm focused on high growth companies. >From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Wheeler served as Chief Financial Officer of Malibu Entertainment Worldwide, a publicly-traded location-based entertainment company. Mr. Wheeler currently sits on the Advisory Board of the College of Business at Texas A&M University — Commerce, where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Finance. Mr. Wheeler was Mayor of Addison, Texas from 1999 to 2005 and served on the Advisory Board of BBVA Compass Bank Dallas from 1994 to 2008. Mr. Wheeler earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University — Commerce in 1980 and his M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in 1985.

Bharat Mahajan , , , Chief Financial Officer

Bharat Mahajan has served as Daseke’s Chief Financial Officer since September 2018. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Aveda Transportation and Energy Services, which was acquired by Daseke in June 2018 and is one of the largest providers of specialized transportation services and equipment required for the exploration, development and production of petroleum resources in the U.S. and Canada. Before joining Aveda, Mr. Mahajan was the Chief Executive Officer of NavNet Inc., a private company that designs, develops and manufactures home automation solutions. Prior thereto, his distinguished career included several positions with Magna International, where he was responsible for launching two successful divisions and overseeing various international growth initiatives. Mr. Mahajan was also Chief Financial Officer for WellPoint Systems Inc., an oil and gas software company, and vice president of finance and the Chief Financial Officer for Norex Exploration Services Inc., a seismic exploration company. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and is a chartered accountant.

Angie J. Moss , , , Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Ms. Moss is Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Previously, she served as our Vice President and Corporate Controller from February 2015 to July 2017 and as our Corporate Controller from June 2013, when she joined Daseke. Ms. Moss brings over 22 years’ experience in public accounting with national and regional accounting firms. From June 2012 to June 2013, Ms. Moss served Sanford, Baumeister & Frazier, LLP, an accounting firm, as an audit partner, and from June 2001 to December 2011, she served Travis Wolff, LLP, an accounting firm, in various capacities, including as an audit partner, Audit Department Head and member of the board of directors. She has also served on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) committees and on the AICPA Accounting and Review Services Committee, which promulgates standards for accounting and review services. Ms. Moss earned a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating summa cum laude. She is a Certified Public Accountant.

Greg Hirsch , , , Senior Vice President

Mr. Hirsch has been with Daseke since 2010 when there was only one operating company, Smokey Point Distributing. There he served as Vice President of Business Strategy. He now serves as Senior Vice President of Daseke. His primary responsibilities are working with new merger prospects as well as overseeing Daseke corporate communications.

Prior to joining Daseke, he was with Sysco Food Services for fifteen years. He holds Bachelor and Masters’ degrees from the University of North Texas where he was also a football letterman. Mr. Hirsch was formerly the Mayor pro temp in Addison, TX and is a proud Eagle Scout.

Derek Blount , , , Senior Vice President

Mr. Blount has served as Senior Vice President since joining the company in June 2017. Prior to Daseke, he spent more than two decades in the financial industry including corporate lending roles with JPMorganChase and international banking syndicate Credit Agricole. Mr. Blount also helped establish the Dallas commercial banking division for CapitalOne Bank and served as Area President for Sovereign Bank. During his time in banking, he worked closely with Don Daseke on several of Mr. Daseke’s business ventures. Mr. Blount is an active member of American MENSA and a published writer, including the critically acclaimed holiday book The Three Christmases of William Spencer and the thriller novels Hostile Takeover and Second Son (learn more about his writing at derekblount.com). He is also an avid supporter of the arts, having served as both President and Chairman of the Board for WaterTower Theatre, a not-for-profit professional theater company in the DFW area. A Texas native, Mr. Blount received both his B.B.A. in Finance and his M.S. in Marketing from Texas A&M University.

John P. Michell , , , Vice President of Capital Markets

John P. Michell has served as Daseke’s Vice President of Capital Markets since April 2019. He previously served as Vice President of Finance since June 2017. Prior to this, beginning in July 2013, Mr. Michell served as Daseke’s Director of Finance. Before joining Daseke, he spent several years as an Assistant Vice President at Texas Capital Bank working in its Financial Sponsor Group conducting due diligence across a wide array of industries. Mr. Michell began his career as an Analyst at Frost National Bank in its Middle Market Commercial Banking Group. Mr. Michell graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

Soumit Roy , , , General Counsel

Mr. Roy has served as General Counsel since joining the company in September 2017. Mr. Roy brings over 17 years’ experience in private practice and in-house counsel positions at Fortune 500 publicly traded companies. Prior to joining Daseke, he was Global Transaction Counsel at Whole Foods Market, General Counsel at Hotels.com, an Expedia Company, and Counsel at Texas Instruments. His private practice experience includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate securities, employment law, and intellectual property law. A Texas native, Mr. Roy received a B.S. Molecular Biology, B.S Biochemistry and his Juris Doctorate all from The University of Texas at Austin.

Amanda Hemker , , , Vice President and Corporate Controller

Amanda Hemker has served as Daseke’s Vice President since 2017 and was promoted to Corporate Controller in January 2019. Ms. Hemker has been with Daseke since she joined as Assistant Corporate Controller in 2013. She provides controllership for all Daseke subsidiaries across the United States and Canada. Ms. Hemker has extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting and financial reporting as well as SEC accounting and reporting. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Ms. Hemker graduated with honors from Southwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Political Science. She also has an undergraduate degree from Fort Hays State University in Sociology and is certified in Grant Proposal Writing and Community Development.

Matt Cacace , , , Senior Vice President, Business Systems

Matt Cacace has been with Daseke since 2014 where he served as the Chief Operating Officer for Smokey Point Distributing, a Daseke operating company based in Seattle. In September 2018, he became Daseke’s Senior Vice President of Business Systems. He provides oversight of cyber security, information systems and infrastructure, business process management and IT SOX compliance. Mr. Cacace has been in the industry for almost 40 years and has extensive knowledge of domestic and international transportation operations as well as technology and logistics applications. He also held previous executive management and C-level positions with McLeod Software and U.S. Xpress Enterprises. Mr. Cacace earned a bachelor’s in Management Science from CW Post College in New York.
